Happy Gold Review: Things to Consider Before Investing

Happy Gold

Happy Gold is an FX robot that claims consistent profits and the best stability with its effective strategy. The expert advisor uses a blend of strategies and an indicator to achieve high returns. It opens one trade at a time and uses multiple timeframes. Designed to work mainly on the XAUUSD pair, this EA is part of the Happy Forex group.

The company promotes many expert advisors and offers them as a pack of 10 products. Happy Frequency, Happy News, and Happy Martigrid are a few of the FX robots of this company. We could not find further info on the company as there are no details like founding year, a location address, or phone number. The lack of vendor transparency makes us suspect this is an unreliable FX EA.

The highlights of Happy Gold

Here are some features that according to the developer set this FX robot apart in the market:

Money management

As per the vendor, the ATS uses 99.9% optimization in the Metatrader platform for achieving the best stability and returns. Some of the money management features the vendor mentions include the use of a hard SL and dynamic TP levels which are set based on the market sentiment.

Drawdown control

For minimizing losses, the vendor recommends a maximum spread of 20 pips and a low slippage broker such as ECN or Market maker. Other settings include a second trailing stop to counter the situation wherein the first trailing stop does not react. The EA uses a fixed lot size when you set risk at 0.

The features mentioned by the vendor are the usual additions we see in most of the EAs and are not unique to this ATS. So, the vendor claiming that these settings enable stable growth and high returns are unrealistic.

Trading strategy of Happy Gold

According to the vendor, this FX robot uses the scalping, swing, and grid news approaches along with a modified ZigZag indicator. All extreme chart points are linked to identify the price momentum. The vendor maintains that the EA does not use risky approaches like the Martingale, hedging, or grid methods. We find the explanation provided is vague and does not give a proper insight into the trading approach.

Backtesting reports

Here is a strategy tester report for this EA done on the XAUUSD pair from January 2019 up to December 2019 using the M15 timeframe.

From the above report, we find that the test had generated a total net return of 2352.62 for an initial deposit of $1000. Profitability of 94.06% was present for a total of 421 trades with a profit factor of 1.93. The drawdown for the account was 12.11%. From the results, it is clear that the profits are not high, despite the high frequency of trades. This indicates an ineffective strategy.

From the trading stats, we can see the total and absolute profits are similar at 173.61%. A daily and monthly profit of 0.74% and 24.94% are present for the account with a drawdown of 8.24%. For an initial deposit of $5000, the account started in June 2021, has completed 88 trades with a profitability of 83% and a profit factor of 6.36. The trading history reveals big lot sizes ranging from 3.73 to 4.52. Although the drawdown is low, the big lot sizes indicate a risky approach.

Comparing the real trading results with the backtesting results, we find that the profit factor value is higher in the real trading which is due to the low number of trades executed. The two results indicate a risky and ineffective approach. Furthermore, the small sample size does not help in predicting the effectiveness of the strategy.
