Record-Breaking Electric Vehicle Deliveries Boost Chinese EV Makers

Early reports on Chinese electric-vehicle deliveries have just been unveiled, and the numbers are nothing short of impressive. This development is especially encouraging for companies like Tesla, BYD, and various other auto manufacturers operating in the world’s largest new car market, all of whom specialize in battery-powered vehicles.

On Tuesday, Chinese EV makers NIO, XPeng, and Li Auto disclosed their combined delivery figures for July, totaling an astounding 65,604 vehicles. This achievement marks a new record and represents a remarkable increase of over 100% compared to the same period last year.

Let’s take a closer look at each company’s performance:

Li Auto Shines with Record-Breaking Deliveries

Li Auto celebrated a major milestone in July by delivering a total of 34,134 cars—an all-time high for the company. This figure is higher than the 32,575 cars delivered in June and significantly surpasses the 10,422 deliveries made in July 2022. So far in 2023, Li Auto has delivered an impressive 173,251 units, marking a remarkable 145% increase compared to the 70,825 units delivered during the first seven months of 2022.

NIO Sets a New Delivery Record

NIO also had cause for celebration as it witnessed a record-breaking month in July with 20,462 cars delivered. This outstanding performance eclipsed the 10,707 deliveries made in June and the 10,052 deliveries accomplished in July 2022. Year to date, NIO’s total deliveries stand at 75,023 units—a solid 23% surge compared to the 60,879 units delivered in the first seven months of 2022.

XPeng Faces Mixed Results

XPeng experienced mixed results in July, delivering a total of 11,008 cars. While this represents an improvement from the 8,620 deliveries made in June, it falls short of the 11,524 deliveries recorded in July 2022. Nevertheless, XPeng has managed to deliver a respectable 52,443 units thus far in 2023, albeit down from the 80,507 units delivered during the first seven months of 2022.

The exceptional performance exhibited by these Chinese EV makers undoubtedly cements their position as key players in the electric vehicle market. With record-breaking deliveries and significant year-over-year growth, these companies are poised for further success in the future.
